Reputable monument companies typically warrant their products against manufacturing defects, including flaws in the granite itself and errors in engraving. A genuine warranty covers cracking or breakage resulting from defective material, fading of sandblasted lettering beyond normal weathering, and structural defects in the base and die assembly.

What Falls Outside Standard Coverage

Natural weathering is not a defect — granite changes over decades of outdoor exposure. Damage from lawnmowers, vandalism, vehicle accidents, and soil settlement are maintenance or insurance matters, not warranty claims. Cemetery regulations that require monument modification after installation also fall outside manufacturer responsibility.
